On October 3rd 2018, International Ceramics Festival Mino Executive Committee members convened in Tajimi City and resolved the basic action plans for International Ceramics Festival Mino Japan 2020 (ICF Mino 2020) as follows:
1. Overall basic plans for ICF Mino 2020
– ICF Mino 2020 takes place during 31 days from September 18th 2020 through October 18th 2020.
– At the venue in Ceramic Park MINO, Tajimi city, Gifu prefecture.
– ICF Mino 2020 will be constituted by two key programs:
1) The 12th International Ceramics Competition Mino Japan, as the main event.
2) Regional events for promoting industries and cultures in the eastern Mino area.
2. Basic plans for the 12th International Ceramics Competition Mino 2020
– Judged and awarded in each of two selection categories:
1) Ceramic Art category, and 2) Design category.
– Grand Prix will be awarded over the above two categories.
– Professor Akira Tatehata will be appointed as the principal chair presiding over the two selection categories.
– Professor Tatehata also presides over the ceramic art category.
– The chief judge over the design category and the other jury members in each category will be selected and appointed in consultation with the principal chair.
– The ICF Mino executive office will support the award winners in the design category in promoting their works’ product commercialization.
– The competition Mino will aim to be the top ceramics competition in the world,
– strengthening international public relations and friendship with other countries, and
– keeping fostering excellent artists and designers in ceramic art fields through the competition.

3. Kani City has become the member of the ICF Mino executive committee – Kani City, one of the municipal bodies in the eastern Mino area, is a region where traditional ceramic art and techniques have been passed down to the present.
In Kani City, four traditional Mino ware styles and six ceramists succeeding the traditions and techniques of the styles were designated as Kani City’s Important Intangible Cultural Assets. The designated Mino ware styles are:
Ki-seto (yellow seto), Seto-guro (black Seto), Shino, and Oribe.
