Yoshitomo Nara is an artist and was born in 1959.
He entered Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 1988 and continued to create until he came back to Japan in 2000.
Nara is one of the artists who is representative of Japan, and presents various works such as drawings centered on paintings, objects with three dimensions (wood, FRP, ceramic, bronze), large installations using waste materials and photo works at art museums and galleries around the world.
In 2001 and 2012 he held large personal exhibitions at the Yokohama Art Museum, and personal exhibitions at the Asia Society Museum (New York) in 2010 and at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center (Hong Kong) in 2015.
