The year 2024 marks the 130th anniversary of Toyozō Arakawa’s birth. To commemorate this occasion, this exhibition focuses on “Shino” and “Setoguro,” for which Toyozō was certified as a Living National Treasure. The certification for individual pieces of pottery, rather than as a production area of Minoyaki (Mino-ware), reflects the uniqueness of the technique. In addition to introducing the technique, the exhibition will also show works from different periods of time, looking at the process of how Toyozō developed his own unique expression from a reproduction of Momoyama pottery. We hope you will enjoy Toyozō’s works, which are different from Momoyama ceramics.
